Tony Smithson holds a degree in Biology and a Master of Science in Public Health, with a professional career rooted in Environmental Health, specializing in food and water safety. While science shaped his career, music has been a lifelong passion. Tony began playing acoustic guitar at the age of 13 and developed a deep love for the electric guitar, finally purchasing his first electric guitar at 45.

During his time in Chicago, Tony played in a band called Nothing Ventured—jokingly dubbed by the wives as “nothing gained”—performing throughout the north and northwest suburbs of the Chicago land. After relocating to Hilton Head Island, Tony transitioned to solo performances, first at One Hot Mama’s and later spending several years playing at Hudson’s.

In 2016, Tony founded the HHP Garage Band Club, bringing local musicians together to share their love of music. Influenced heavily by his favorite band, Santana, Tony’s playing reflects a lifelong dedication to both rhythm and melody, blending experience, passion, and community wherever he performs.

Join us for a fun evening of live music, delicious food, and great fellowship!
